DJ Kimmei, known in everyday life as Christoph Kimmel, hails from the picturesque Berchtesgadener Land in Bavaria, surrounded by the awe-inspiring Alps. Growing up in this mythical region near the legendary Untersberg shaped not only his character but also his music.
Music has always been a central part of Kimmei’s life. Influenced by his father’s record collection – featuring Queen, T.Rex, and Deep Purple – his musical journey began early. Over the years, he explored Hip-Hop, Punk, and Trance, eventually dedicating nearly a decade to Metal. As a guitarist and drummer, he played in several bands, released a thrash metal album, and toured across Europe.
The turning point came when Kimmei discovered electronic music. His first Psytrance party in a cave club in Salzburg left an unforgettable impression – the energy, the people, and the music captivated him, sparking his passion for DJing and producing Psytrance.
Kimmei’s DJ sets, ranging from 142 to 165 BPM, are as diverse as his musical background. He loves telling stories through his music, delivering sets that can be playful and trippy, deep and mystical, or straightforward and powerful. Always curious and open to fresh sounds, his performances are marked by detail and a personal touch.
In 2012, he founded INS MITTN, a project dedicated to organizing high-quality psychedelic events in Bavaria and Austria. Whether performing at underground dancefloors in Europe or Asia, Kimmei’s music resonates with audiences – a heartfelt fusion of his alpine roots and his love for Psytrance.
