Nobot is the brainchild of Oli/Brainshaker and Martin/Z-Neo, two artists who decided in 2014 to return to their musical roots. Oli, a seasoned party organizer and DJ who has been spinning records for decades, and Martin, formerly of Naked Tourist and an experienced electronic music producer, joined forces to bring their vision of dark, psychotic, and playful soundscapes to life.
The journey of Nobot began with a rediscovered fascination for quirky, shadowy structures and sounds. At the core of their music lies a blend of analog devices, modular systems, and digital tools – a chaos of knobs, keys, and cables working together to create hypnotic, intricate soundscapes. Whether it’s Midi, CV/Gate, or the internet as an endless source of samples, Nobot leaves no stone unturned in their quest to craft nonlinear, captivating sonic narratives.
With a touch of humor, Nobot describes their creative process as driven by a “non-robotic brain” directly connected to their DAW – as long as the USB cable doesn’t fail. Their music is defined by organic darkness and abstract, experimental sounds that deliberately break away from mainstream consensus.
