Onkel Dunkel is the musical alter ego of Monno, a producer, mastering engineer, synth enthusiast, and sound designer from Denmark. Monno has been involved in music since his late teens. What started as a bass player at the age of 17 quickly shifted when he discovered Psytrance. Captivated by its possibilities, he traded his bass for computers and synthesizers.
An early project of Monno’s was Grapes of Wrath, which he founded with his partner Jaffa. The duo was a key part of the early days of Parvati Records, and their groundbreaking split album Tits on Fire, released in 2004 in collaboration with Meteloids, helped define the label’s sound and set new standards in the scene.
Since 2006, Monno has primarily focused on his solo project Onkel Dunkel. His second album, Connections, released in June 2017, highlights his versatility: every track was created with friends who visited him in the studio, resulting in a rich mix of influences.
At the Parvati Gathering 2025, celebrating the label’s 25th anniversary, Monno will present something truly special. In addition to his powerful Onkel Dunkel set, he will perform an exclusive Grapes of Wrath retro set, bringing back the energy and roots of the early Parvati Records days.
Today, Onkel Dunkel is back in the studio, crafting new material designed to fire up your synapses. Known for its intense, psychedelic soundscapes and innovative sound design, his music resonates with synth enthusiasts and dancefloor adventurers alike.
