Ulvae is the project of Gustavo, born in Portugal, who has been surrounded by music since before he was born. With music-loving parents – his father being a musician himself – sound has always been an integral part of his life. At the age of 14, Gustavo started playing guitar and bass in garage bands, which eventually evolved beyond their initial grassroots status.
His first encounter with the underground and psychedelic scene happened in 1998 in a forest near Coimbra. The experience was so profound that it forever anchored him in the scene.
The project Ulvae was born in 2003, but it wasn’t until 2007 that it became his main musical focus. Ulvae’s style is unmistakable: organic, forest-inspired atmospheres, dark melodies, twisted elements, deep basslines, and intricate details that make every production stand out.
Ulvae debuted on Parvati Records in 2015 with his first solo EP, Marupo. This was followed by the EP Modus Nocturnus in 2021, and most recently, his first full-length album, Psychedelia In Motion, released in November 2023. This album marks a significant milestone in Gustavo’s career, capturing the essence of his project: a profound connection to the forest and the Psytrance culture.
